Reducing climate impact

Dale’s production facility operates 35 injection moulding machines with clamping forces from 40 to 550 tonnes, including 5 all-electric units. Operating at this scale makes energy efficiency and smarter resource use essential to reducing our climate impact.

Since 2023, we have regularly assessed GHG emissions at organisational and product level to better focus mitigation actions. As a first step, we switched to renewable electricity verified by guarantees of origin.

This transition reduced emissions from our direct production by approximately 1,035 t of CO₂eq per year. The reduction is comparable to the annual emissions of 241 petrol‑powered cars or the electricity required to charge 83 million smartphones.

When accounting for raw materials, transport, manufacturing and waste, the average product footprint has decreased by 33% compared to the initial assessment. By working with us, customers can achieve measurable reductions in the emissions of their products.

Circularity

Driven by the desire to deliver quality products with minimal environmental impact, continuous process optimisation is a part of our daily operations.

Since 2023, we have implemented measures to reduce waste generation across our manufacturing. A key focus is preventing defective output — we have consistently maintained a scrap rate of 0.5% of total production. Residues suitable for reuse are reintroduced to the manufacturing process, either internally or via partners, while remaining plastic, wood and paper is directed to recycling.

We process a range of plastics, including PA, PE, PP, ABS, POM and PC, and increasingly use rPP, which has an estimated 38% lower carbon footprint than primary raw material. With EU funding support, we are developing our business model to increase the share of secondary raw materials and establish robotised production lines. We have already invested in a fully automated packaging line, improving efficiency and reducing costs.

GHG emissions
in 2023-2024

In 2024, GHG emissions
per 1 tonne of product were:

0.03 tCO₂eq for Scopes 1–2
4.3 tCO₂eq for Scopes 1–3

Case study 1

Efforts in optimising the manufacturing of plastic caps for construction foam bottles have resulted in greenhouse gas reduction by 39% between 2023 and 2024

Case study 2

By replacing virgin plastic with secondary and switching to renewable electricity, we were able to reduce the footprint of one of our products across its entire life cycle by 47%
